Profile silhouette

What you need:
  • A close up picture of your child's profile
  • Scissors
  • Colorful paper
  • Glue stick or other glue
  • Picture frame (card stock frames are good as well as plastic and glass)
Directions:
  1. Print your picture of your child's profile
  2. Glue the picture to the color paper you want the silhouette to be
  3. Cut around your child's face
  4. Cut out colorful paper for the background, I cut mine 4x6 because that is the size my frame was.
  5. Glue the silhouette to the color paper and if you would like write your child's name under the picture and put the date on the back of the colored paper for future reference.
  6. Put in a frame and enjoy
Tip: It would be fun to do this every start of the new school year and add the silhouettes to a scrap book instead of a frame and watch your kids profiles change through the years.

Absorbing Artwork

Absorbing Artwork

This craft is from the Disney family fun site. This is a great craft for toddlers

What you need:
  • Card stock
  • Rimmed baking sheet
  • White glue
  • Salt
  • Colored water (see tip below)
  • Eyedropper

  1. Set the card stock on the baking sheet and have your child use the glue to draw a design on the paper
  2.  Sprinkle the wet glue with salt until it's completely covered, then tap off any excess.
  3. Have your child use the eyedropper to drip colored water, one drop at a time, onto the salt. As the salt absorbs the liquid, the water will move along the glue lines, resulting in a wonderful web of color. Be sure to watch what happens when the color reaches intersecting lines.
Tips:
We used 5 drops of neon food coloring per tablespoon of water to create our vibrant hues.
